Crypto Referral Codes and Sign-Up Bonuses, Checked Line by Line

Every exchange promises a crypto sign-up bonus, but the real value hides in the unlock conditions. We read the official terms behind each referral program and compare what you actually receive, what you have to deposit or trade to get it, and whether you can ever withdraw it.

A crypto referral code looks like a small thing: a few letters typed into a box when you open an account. In practice it decides which welcome tasks you see, whether you get a share of your own trading fees back, and sometimes whether you get anything at all. The best crypto referral programs are not the ones with the biggest number on the banner. They are the ones where the reward you can realistically claim, after every deposit, trade and waiting period, is still worth something.

That gap between headline and reality is why this site exists. “Up to 10,000 USDT” usually means a stack of futures trading bonuses spread across tasks that need tens of thousands of dollars in volume. “20% off fees” often describes what the inviter earns, not what you save. And a crypto sign-up bonus that sounds like free money can turn out to be a fee voucher that expires three days after you redeem it. We read the official terms, write down the conditions, and put the numbers side by side so you can decide in a few minutes.

  • $50in crypto you can sell right away (Gemini, US, after a $100 trade)
  • $10deposit and $10 trade unlock Binance's up to $100 fee vouchers

What a crypto referral program actually is

A referral program is the deal an exchange, wallet or app makes with its existing users: bring in new customers and we will pay you. The person who shares the link is the referrer (or inviter), and the person who signs up is the referee (or invitee). When you enter someone’s code, your account is linked to theirs, usually forever.

That link can pay you in three different ways, and most programs use one or two of them:

  • A crypto referral bonus or welcome reward. A one-time payment once you complete tasks such as identity verification, a first deposit or a first trade. It can be real crypto, a stablecoin, a fee voucher or a futures bonus.
  • A fee kickback. A share of the trading fees you pay, returned to you for months or years. The inviter receives a commission on your fees and chooses how much of it to give back.
  • A discount. Money off a product, which is how hardware wallets and tax software handle referrals. You save once, at checkout.

The welcome tasks are often the same for everyone in your country whether or not a code was used. What a code really changes is the second part: the kickback, plus any extra reward the inviter is entitled to pass on. Our guide to referral kickbacks explains how that split works in plain numbers, and how referral codes are applied covers the sign-up mechanics.

How to compare crypto sign-up bonuses

Five questions sort good offers from bad ones. We ask them for every review, and they are worth asking yourself before you type in any code.

1. What do you get, in what form? A $50 reward paid as Bitcoin into your balance and a $50 futures bonus are very different things. The first is yours. The second is margin you can only use to open futures positions, and if the trade goes against you it is gone. Fee vouchers sit in between: they save real money, but only if you trade enough to use them before they expire.

2. What does it cost to unlock? Every serious program has conditions. Binance asks for a $10 deposit and a $10 trade within 14 days. Gemini asks for $100 of trading within 30 days. Crypto.com’s top tier needs $5,000 of trading volume within 30 days of KYC approval. A bonus that requires a $50,000 futures volume is a bonus for high-volume traders, whatever the banner says.

3. Is there an ongoing kickback? For anyone who trades more than a few times a year, a lasting fee kickbackA kickback is part of your own trading fee that the platform returns to you. With a 10% kickback, $10 of fees costs you $9. beats a one-time bonus. KuCoin’s cashback runs for 365 days and can reach the inviter’s full commission rate of 25% to 35%. CoinEx pays its rebate in CET for up to 12 months. HTX’s rebate pool runs for 730 days.

4. What does KYC look like? Most exchanges require identity verification before any reward is paid. Some, like BloFin, CoinEx and XT, let you trade without ID, but their welcome tasks still tend to need verification. Our KYC guide for crypto bonuses explains what each level unlocks.

5. Can you withdraw it? This is the question most code sites avoid. We record it for every program in the “withdrawable” line of each review. If the answer is “no, only profits made with it”, treat the headline number as a trading tool, not as money.

The main categories of crypto referral programs

Not every referral program is an exchange. We group the programs we review into categories, because a wallet discount and a futures bonus cannot be compared on the same scale.

Crypto exchange referral codes are the largest group and the one most people search for. Centralized exchanges like Binance, Bybit, OKX, KuCoin and Kraken earn money on every trade, so they can afford welcome packages and kickbacks. Offers range from Gemini’s $50 in crypto to Bitget’s advertised 6,200 USDT pack, which is almost entirely futures bonuses.

Sign-up bonuses ranked by real value cuts across categories and sorts welcome rewards by what you can actually claim, what it costs and whether it is withdrawable. Start there if you only care about the first reward and not about fees later.

No-deposit crypto bonuses is the honest answer to the most searched question in this niche. Very few real programs give anything without a deposit, and what they give is small. That page lists the closest legitimate options and the scams that copy them.

US crypto bonuses collects programs open to US residents, including state exclusions. Binance.com, Bybit and most offshore exchanges are closed to the US, so this list is shorter and quite different.

Wallet referral and discount codes covers hardware wallets such as Tangem, Trezor and Ledger, where a code cuts the price or adds a small Bitcoin gift, and software wallets like Phantom and MetaMask, which pay in fee rebates or points.

Perp DEX referral codes covers on-chain futures platforms like Hyperliquid, Aster, Jupiter and edgeX. No KYC, no welcome bonus, and the code usually gives a small fee discount, such as Hyperliquid’s 4% off your first $25M of volume.

The remaining categories are smaller but useful: lending platforms like Nexo, which pays rewards in its own token based on your balance; trading bots like Pionex and 3Commas; crypto cards like RedotPay; and crypto tax software such as CoinTracker, Koinly and CoinLedger, where a referral link takes 10% to 20% off a plan you would buy anyway.

Headline crypto referral programs compared

Here are eight of the programs people ask about most, with the numbers from our reviews. Each one links to the full breakdown.

Notice how the columns pull in different directions. The biggest numbers (Bybit, Binance) come as vouchers and bonuses that stay on the platform. The smallest numbers (Gemini, Kraken) are the ones you can actually take away. And the programs with no welcome bonus at all, like KuCoin’s cashback or Hyperliquid’s discount, can be worth the most to someone who trades every week.

A quick worked example shows why. Say you trade $20,000 a month on Spot at a 0.1% fee. That is $20 in fees a month, or $240 a year. A 20% kickback returns $48 a year, every year you trade. Binance’s welcome vouchers would cover your fees for the first days and then expire. For a buy-and-hold investor who makes four purchases a year, the maths reverses: the kickback is worth pennies and a one-time $50 in crypto is the better deal.

Quick picks by profile

For a beginner buying crypto for the first time: the cleanest offers are the ones paid in real crypto with low thresholds. In the US, Gemini’s $50 after a $100 trade is hard to beat. Outside the US, Binance’s welcome tasks need only $10 deposited and $10 traded, though the reward is a fee voucher. In Australia, CoinSpot and Swyftx each pay $10 AUD of Bitcoin. In Europe, Bitpanda pays up to €100 in steps as you invest, and Bitvavo refunds fees on your first €10,000.

For an active spot or futures trader: look for a lasting kickback instead of a one-time bonus. KuCoin returns cashback for 365 days, CoinEx pays a CET rebate for up to 12 months, HTX runs its rebate for 730 days and XT shares up to 20% of fees. OKX codes can carry a rebate set by the affiliate, so check the percentage shown at sign-up.

For a US resident: your list is short. Gemini, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Kraken and Binance.US all run referral programs open to US residents, each with its own state exclusions. Binance.US pays $10 each after $100 in buys or trades but is unavailable in states including New York and Texas. Our US crypto bonuses page lists the exclusions.

For someone who refuses to deposit: there is no withdrawable no-deposit bonus among the programs we checked. The closest options are Margex, whose $50 sign-up bonus can be claimed without a deposit but only reimburses fees and funding, and Binance’s $20 voucher for verifying your identity. Both only become useful once you trade.

For a futures trader who wants the bonus: Bybit, Bitget, MEXC and BloFin run the largest futures welcome packages. Read the volume tiers first. MEXC’s referral event pays a 20 USDT futures bonus each after a 100 USDT deposit and one futures trade, and the bonus expires after 15 days.

How we verify every offer

Each review on this site starts from the platform’s own pages: the referral program terms, help-center articles, fee schedules and campaign rules. Third-party code sites are only leads. If a platform does not publish a number, the review says so instead of guessing. When two official pages contradict each other, as with Bitunix’s withdrawal limits for unverified accounts, we show both.

We then score every program on four axes from 0 to 5: value (what you can realistically claim), transparency (whether the conditions are published and consistent), kickback (what share of your fees comes back over time) and access (KYC, regions and minimums). The program table above is sorted by those scores, and the full method is on how we verify.

We also flag programs that stop working. BitMart is the clearest example right now: registrations and trading are suspended, yet code sites still advertise its bonuses. Its review explains the wind-down instead of offering a code.

The biggest traps in crypto bonus offers

Most crypto bonuses are not scams. They are just worth far less than they look. These are the patterns we see again and again:

“Up to” headlines. Bitget’s 6,200 USDT, Toobit’s 15,000 USDT and BTCC’s advertised 10,055 USDT are the sum of every task at every tier. The top tiers need deposits and volumes that most people will never reach. Add up only the tasks you will really complete.

Futures bonuses and trial funds. A futures bonusBonus margin you can use only to open futures positions. You usually keep the profit, but the bonus itself cannot be withdrawn and is lost when trades go against you. is not money. You cannot withdraw it or move it to Spot, and it expires. MEXC’s expire after 15 days. If you do not plan to trade leveraged futures, its value to you is close to zero.

Deposit locks. Several welcome tasks require you to deposit and hold for days. Bitget’s challenge forbids withdrawals until 3 days after the reward, and WEEX asks for a 100 USDT deposit held for 3 to 7 days. Withdraw early and the bonus disappears.

The inviter’s rate dressed up as your discount. “Up to 50% commission” describes what the referrer can earn. Your kickback is the slice they share, often 0% to 10%.

Fake sites and phishing. A real referral code never needs your password, seed phrase or a wallet signature. Pages promising instant, withdrawable crypto for signing up are a classic scam pattern. Our guide to fake crypto bonuses walks through the red flags with examples.

Before you claim: a short checklist

Read the reward type first: crypto, stablecoin, voucher or futures bonus. Note the deadline, which is often 7, 14 or 30 days and sometimes starts at registration rather than at KYC approval. Check your region against the exclusion list, because a code that works in Germany may not work in France. Decide in advance how much you will deposit and trade, then count only the tasks that fit those numbers.

Finally, remember the tax side. In the US and many other countries, crypto received as a reward counts as income when you receive it. Our guide to taxes on referral rewards explains what the IRS, HMRC and other tax offices say.

If you want to go the other way and earn from inviting friends, how to earn with crypto referrals and referral vs affiliate programs cover the inviter’s side honestly, including why most people earn little.

Where to go next

Pick the hub that matches what you want. If you trade regularly, the exchange referral rankings and the kickback guide will save you the most money over time. If you only want the welcome reward, the sign-up bonus ranking sorts offers by what you can actually take home. If you live in the US, start with the US page. And whatever you choose, read the “withdrawable” line in the review before you deposit. It is the shortest way to tell a bonus from a banner.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best crypto sign-up bonus?
It depends on whether you want cash-like value or trading perks. Among the programs we reviewed, Gemini pays $50 in crypto in the US after a $100 trade, and you can sell it straight away. Binance gives up to $100, but only as fee vouchers. Futures-heavy exchanges such as Bitget or BloFin advertise thousands of USDT, almost all of it in futures bonuses that cannot be withdrawn.
Is a crypto referral code the same as a promo code?
On most exchanges, yes. The referral code, invite code, referral ID and promo code go into the same field at sign-up and tie your account to the person or partner who invited you. A few platforms run separate campaign codes for specific events, but the welcome tasks are usually the same for every new user in your region.
Can I add a referral code after I created my account?
Almost never. Binance, Bybit, Gemini and most other platforms attach a referral only when the account is created. CoinEx is a rare exception that lets you bind a code within 7 days. Opening a second account just to use a code normally breaks the terms and can void every reward.
Are crypto referral bonuses withdrawable?
Some are. Gemini, Coinbase, Kraken, CoinSpot and Swyftx pay in crypto or stablecoins that land in your balance. Fee kickbacks from KuCoin, CoinEx or XT are real rebates of fees you paid. Futures bonuses, trial funds and fee vouchers from Bybit, Bitget, MEXC or Binance cannot be withdrawn; at most you keep profits made with them.
Is there a crypto sign-up bonus with no deposit?
Very few, and none of them is free cash. Margex lets you claim a $50 bonus without a deposit, but it only reimburses part of your fees and funding. Binance pays a $20 fee voucher for identity verification alone, usable only once you trade. Anything that promises withdrawable crypto with no deposit and no KYC deserves suspicion.
Do I need KYC to get a crypto referral bonus?
On regulated and most large offshore exchanges, yes. Identity verification is usually the first task, and rewards are paid only to verified accounts. A handful of platforms such as BloFin, CoinEx, XT and WEEX let you trade without ID, but their welcome bonuses still tend to require verification.
Do I have to pay tax on crypto referral rewards?
In many countries, yes. The IRS treats crypto received as a reward as ordinary income at its market value when you receive it, and tax offices in the UK, Australia and elsewhere take similar views. Keep a record of every reward and check your local rules.
How do you pick the programs on this site?
We read each platform's own referral page, help-center articles and terms, note the exact numbers and conditions, and score value, transparency, kickback and access. Programs that are suspended, such as BitMart, are flagged instead of promoted.
